Today we drove 10 hours from Copenhagen to Stockholm. There were tons of windmills and beautiful countryside. We made a stop at a place called Brahehus. I went out to the ruins to see it and the view was incredible! I was able to spread Chris’s ashes here, I thought it was a stunning place! We finally made it to Stockholm, then went to Kaknästornet. This is a 30 story TV tower with a restaurant and outdoor deck. Afterwards we went to The Ice Bar. We were given large parkas to put on and enjoyed a drink at the ice bar. It was really fun, and very cold!! Oh, and I’ve never seen so many Volvo’s in my life! The reason for for the rough ride is due to my cold. I developed a head cold and I’ve been sneezing all day. I have not been sleeping well because my roommate snores and I am a light sleeper, so I have slept maybe 3-4 hours a night since I arrived. So I’m quite miserable but despite that, I’m still partaking in all activities because who knows when I’ll be able to return here. When we entered Sweden, ABBA began playing in the bus. I don’t really like ABBA. And I don’t shop at IKEA. I hope they don’t kick me out! So here are some pictures from today.

Today I accepted being a tourist and just go with the tourist flow. I went outside of Copenhagen into the country side to see a castle. There were several stops where I was able to spread Chris’s ashes discretely. I am very happy with where his ashes are spread. On the way back I took a river boat cruise through all the canals. To end my day, I decided to take it easy and have dinner at the hotel (with wine) and relax. My first day in Copenhagen was pretty awesome thanks to the crew at Ancestral. Doing a little homework to find a local wine bar pays off! I landed around 2pm and then found my tour group and went to the hotel. After a quick meet and greet I took a local bus to the city center and went to Ancestral. It was tucked away in an area where, I dare say, was quite hipster-ish. But it was awesome!!! I had forgotten how many languages Europeans know! I walked into Ancestral and the server sat me at the bar, and he quickly switched to German with another couple, then French to speak with another server, and Danish to speak to other staff. I LOVE IT! Anyways, I had a nice half mile walk there and took some pictures of the architecture, including waking through Tívoli, which I hope to visit tomorrow! So let’s focus on Ancestral. I had a few courses including bread & butter, quail, and halibut. Oh, and a fig dessert. Each paired with a different wine. The last wine I had was a dessert wine which reminded me of LPR. I explained what this means to the server, and guess what!!! He wrote it in the door!!!! If you don’t know what this means, ask me! I had a great time, even put one of their stickers in my bag! I hope they are open tomorrow, I may just go back!! So here is how I know Chris was with me... I went to the restroom and they had the Star Wars theme song playing and a photo. What an amazing first day!!! |
