I went diving today!! I haven’t officially gone diving in 10 years! I had a guide just for me and it was great! Let me back up a bit. I was up early at 6:30am to get picked up at 7am. In the bus there were already a couple of people. We headed straight to the dive office to get fitted for our dive gear. Two more people joined our group. Once we were all fitted, we got in the bus again and we drove 2.5 hours to our dive site. Through the drive I saw several rice patties and beautiful landscape with the ocean as a backdrop. I also saw monkeys!! They were super cute but too fast to catch by photograph. We finally arrived to our dive site. It was in the north side of Bali. We arrived and promptly put in our gear. The guy who was going to go with me was Eke. He went through some of the hand signals and refreshed me on communication under water. Once I was ready, we headed into the water. This was a rocky beach with tons of large, round, smooth pebbles. It was difficult to walk through so thankfully Eke was there to help me through the beach entry. He helped me put my fins on and double checked air supply. Once set, we went under. OH MY GAWD!!! It was so beautiful! I couldn’t believe the colors and clarity underwater. It was phenomenal. We dove toward a shipwreck that lines the beach about 75 feet from the shore. It was so amazing to go through the wreckage. Eke literally held my hand and we went through a lot of the ship under water. When we finished the first dive, he said we were under for 40 minutes but it felt like 15. After the first dive we had lunch, then got ready again for the second dive. Now a bit more comfortable, we were able to get underwater a bit faster. This time we went to another side of the wreckage. I saw a fish they told me was called Napoleon fish. But to me it looked like a blow fish. Who knows! It was awesome!! Once we finished the second dive I took a moment to spread Chris’s ashes in the Indian Ocean where I just dove. After the second dive we returned to our hotels. I took more photos of rice patties and random Bali scenery on the way back. I booked another couple of tours for tomorrow when I arrived to the hotel after enjoying some cocktails, then went to dinner.
